  • 1 package Active Dry Yeast
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 TSP sugar
  • 2 TSP salt
  • 5 1/2 cups all purpose flour


  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and sugar.  Wait 5 min for bubbles

  2. Add salt and 3 cups of flour, bring together to a dough adding more flour as needed.

  3. Add Flour as needed for 6-8 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic

  4. Place in a greased bowl and let rise for 1 hour 

  5. Push dough down, put on surface, divide into 2.  Make a loaf shape with seam side down.  Cover and let rise for 30 minutes

  6. Preheat oven to 400

  7. Make 4 slices across each loaf and bake for 20-25  minutes  until golden brown.
