Blackberry Balsamic Reduction for Steak

Fresh Blackberry season lines up nicely with grilling season. I had some fresh berries around and found this very simple balsamic reduction which frankly was excellent with grilled steak. Simple to do.

Blackberry Balsamic Reduction Sauce for Steak

A quick easy sauce that goes well with steak

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh blackberries frozen work ok as well
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp corn starch if needed to thicken

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients except butter and corn starch in a pot

  2. Heat on medium high until boiling

  3. Lower heat to medium-low for 10-15 minutes until reduced by half, feel free to push some juice out from berries if they don't break down naturally

  4. Strain mixture through a fine strainer, return to pot to keep warm

  5. Finish sauce with butter, if necessary add a little corn starch to thicken
