Fresh Blackberry season lines up nicely with grilling season. I had some fresh berries around and found this very simple balsamic reduction which frankly was excellent with grilled steak. Simple to do.
Blackberry Balsamic Reduction Sauce for Steak
A quick easy sauce that goes well with steak
Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh blackberries frozen work ok as well
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp corn starch if needed to thicken
Instructions
-
Put all ingredients except butter and corn starch in a pot
-
Heat on medium high until boiling
-
Lower heat to medium-low for 10-15 minutes until reduced by half, feel free to push some juice out from berries if they don't break down naturally
-
Strain mixture through a fine strainer, return to pot to keep warm
-
Finish sauce with butter, if necessary add a little corn starch to thicken
